The head of the US Navy's warship procurement business visits domestic shipbuilding companies such as Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and HJ Jin Heavy Industries. It is expected to have an advantage in future projects ordered by the US Navy for the purpose of directly identifying the shipbuilding capabilities of these shipbuilders.
The Naval Systems Command (NAVSEA), an organization under the U.S. Navy, announced on the 7th (local time) that Navy Admiral Tom Anderson will visit Korea. During his visit to Korea, Admiral Tom Anderson plans to meet with Eom Dong-hwan, head of the DAPA, to exchange information on naval warship programs.
Domestic shipbuilding companies such as Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and HJ Heavy Industries are also visiting. In particular, as Admiral Tom Anderson is leading the US Navy's 'PEO Ships' (Program Executive Office Ships), this visit is attracting attention from the shipbuilding industry. PEO Ships, one of the largest military equipment procurement organizations in the US Department of Defense, is responsible for the development and procurement of all combat vessels, including destroyers, landing craft, special purpose ships, and boats.
Currently, these shipyards build merchant vessels, offshore platforms and naval vessels as well as special purpose vessels. Military ships include Aegis destroyers, frigates, patrol ships, coast guard ships, amphibious ships, air cushion vehicles, logistic support ships, auxiliary and support ships, and conventional submarines.
